What is an RTTL Boat?. The Rescue & Target Towing Launch (RTTL) was a fast-response boat used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) Marine Branch for air-sea rescue missions from the 1950s through the 1980s. These vessels were critical in retrieving downed aircrew from the sea and providing target towing services for RAF training exercises.
